Bollihope via White Kirkley – Weardale Tuesday Walks – this walk is going ahead as planned

Meet at Frosterley Station Car Park. postcode DL13 2SL.

Length 6.5 miles, mostly flat but which has been muddy in places,lately

Route Details: We turn left out of the station to walk over the road bridge.  Taking the public footpath after the school we  walk towards Broadwood quarry then take the right hand track heading for  White Kirkley.  Crossing the road in White Kirkley we take the track to “The Forgotten Quarry” known in the past as Fine Burn Quarry.  The pleasant walk continues along side  Bollihope Burn – the path can be very muddy in places.  We then take the left hand track towards the quarry walking with the burn on our right.  Travelling through the quarry we pass the quarry pond and head towards the Frosterley/Egglestone road looping round the burn to walk down the opposite side. After passing the caravan site we join our outgoing path to retrace our steps to Frosterley Station

Equipment for this walk: walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick.

Dogs are permitted on this walk, but must be under strict control as we will be crossing farmland .

Walks cost £1 to cover mountain rescue contribution etc
