Fatherley Hill Currick – Weardale Tuesday Walks -this walk is going ahead as planned

19 March

£1

This walk is slightly longer than usual and the ascent is not to be sniffed at so David is preparing an easier alternative if the weather on the 19th is not good.  Its also not suitable for dogs as it goes through open access areas with a restriction due to breeding birds.  However I’m keen to do the walk as it has excellent views and is in an area not often walked. DavidI canvassed opinion on a previous walk and no one objected.

Unfortunately there are no easy short cuts, but anyone wishing to return early can simply follow the track back down to Wolsingham as the views walking in the reverse direction are excellent.

Starting point: Demesne car park in Wolsigham, Angate street, DL13 3DG. Please note car parking charges are due to be introduced in early Spring.

Walk Route: From Demesne car park we walk through fields following Waskerley Beck before starting a steady climb past Fawnlees and up to Park Wall.. We enter open access area and contour around Park Wall Edge before a steady climb  across open moorland up to Fartherley Hill Currick.  After a break we follow good tracks Noth and then East before descending over rough moorland back to the path around Park Wall and return to Wolsingham.

Unfortunately there are no easy short cuts, but anyone wishing to return early can simply follow the track back down to Wolsingham as the views walking in the reverse direction are excellent.
