DESCRIPTION:Middleton in Teesdale – Romaldkirk to Cotherstone circular \nTue 29th  September 2026 \n£1 \nImportant:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled\, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead.  Note we are often able to update the website the evening before. \nWalk Route: \nStarting at Romaldkirk\, walking along the Teesdale Way to Cotherstone then back to Romaldkirk along the Teesdale Railway path. The route is relatively flat\, mainly following the river and the old railway. \nDate:  Tuesday 15th September 2026 \nStart time: 10.00am                      Estimated finish time:  13.00p.m. \nDistance c. 5 miles                          Height gain: relatively flat \nLeader: Jamie                                     Contact details: 07850 068208 \n  \nStarting Point:  On entering Romaldkirk you pass the church on your right and the road turns sharp right. The best place to park is to go straight ahead at this corner and park on the verge. \nOS Map: North Pennines OS Explorer OL31 NY 995\,221 \nWalks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution. \nTerrain: Pleasant mix of easy tracks mainly following the Teesdale Way. \nToilets: Middleton in Teesdale. \nEquipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks\, waterproofs\, small snack and drink.  Walking sticks would be useful if the weather is wet. \nDogs: Ok for small dogs on a lead in some places – several stiles may be difficult for large dogs. \nAccompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome. \nDisclaimer: Everyone taking part in any of our group walks does so at their own risk.  The group works on the same basis as a group of friends who go out walking together.  Walk organisers accept no risk for anyone attending any walk and will not be held responsible for any accident\, injury or loss occurring on a walk or in connection with travel to and from a walk.  None of our leaders is qualified or has first aid training but a basic first aid kit is available.  Participants must read the walk description carefully and assess whether the terrain\, distance and height gain of the walk are within their own and their guests’ capabilities and whether their equipment is suitable.
