DESCRIPTION:Weardale Tuesday Walks.  Walk going ahead as planned \nWalk 17th February 2026. ALLENSFORD COUNTRY PARK – SHOTLEY BRIDGE CIRCULAR WALK \nAn approx. 6.4 km circular walk. \nWalk Leader:  Kevin & Trudy Hollins \nMeeting point Allensford Country Park. DH8 9BA (077\,502 grid ref). Park in car park on left of Pemberton Road just after the junction with the A68 at Allensford. \nToilets. At country park \nCommencing: 10.00 \nApprox. 2.5 hours including stop for refreshments. \nHeight gain 160m \nLeaving Allensford Country park we follow the river Derwent east through the park which brings us to part of the Consett Heritage Trail where we pass an old Pump House**. We leave the river path with an approx 800m climb up and then through woods and back down a quiet lane to cross the footpath over the river Derwent and follow the river footpath all the way back to the Car park. \n** a short linear walk can be had by turning back at pump house approx 2km\, 1 hour. \nImportant:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled\, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead.  Note we are often able to update the website the evening before. \nWalks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution. \nAll general enquiries about the group to David Towndrow 07485780121 \nAccompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome. \nDisclaimer: Everyone taking part in any of our group walks does so at their own risk.  The group works on the same basis as a group of friends who go out walking together.  Walk organisers accept no risk for anyone attending any walk and will not be held responsible for any accident\, injury or loss occurring on a walk or in connection with travel to and from a walk.  None of our leaders are qualified or has first aid training but a basic first aid kit is available.  Participants must read the walk description carefully and assess whether the terrain\, distance and height gain of the walk are within their own and their guests’ capabilities and whether their equipment is suitable.
