DESCRIPTION:Middleton in Teesdale – Mickleton circular \nTue 15th  September 2026 \n£1 \nImportant:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled\, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead.  Note we are often able to update the website the evening before. \nWalk Route: \nThe route is slightly downhill to start\, then flat. It runs adjacent to the River Tees for approximately 1.5 miles\, where there’s a cut off\, across fields or a retrace. A series of steep gullies\, with steps\, follow for around 0.5 miles. The rest of the walk is reasonable\, with some stiles and gates along the way. \nDate:  Tuesday 15th September 2026 \nStart time: 10.00am                      Estimated finish time:  13.30p.m. \nDistance c. 6.2 miles                       Height gain: 420ft \nLeader: Peter                                      Contact details: 07999420499 \n  \nStarting Point:  Car Park in Middleton in Teesdale opposite the Co-op or adjacent road. \nOS Map: North Pennines OS Explorer OL31 NY 907\,282 \nWalks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution. \nTerrain: Mix of woodland\, farmland and quiet country roads. \nToilets: Middleton in Teesdale. \nEquipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks\, waterproofs\, small snack and drink.  Walking sticks would be useful if the weather is wet. \nDogs: As there are some significant challenges for dogs – gullies and livestock – this walk is not recommended for dogs. \nAccompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome. \nDisclaimer: Everyone taking part in any of our group walks does so at their own risk.  The group works on the same basis as a group of friends who go out walking together.  Walk organisers accept no risk for anyone attending any walk and will not be held responsible for any accident\, injury or loss occurring on a walk or in connection with travel to and from a walk.  None of our leaders is qualified or has first aid training but a basic first aid kit is available.  Participants must read the walk description carefully and assess whether the terrain\, distance and height gain of the walk are within their own and their guests’ capabilities and whether their equipment is suitable.
