DESCRIPTION:Wolsingham:  Circular Tue 5th May 2026 – Going ahead as planned \n£1 \nImportant:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled\, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead.  Note we are often able to update the website the evening before. \nWalk Route: \nWe meet at Wolsingham Railway Station Car Park for a 7-mile circular route around Wolsingham\, leaving at the East End and returning at the West End. The route sets out along the river path to Scotch Isle before climbing up to Greenwell Edge where there are splendid views of the Weardale Valley as we head towards Thistlewood and Baal Hill.  We then cross the stepping stones\, cross the meadows towards the Church and back to the River Wear and Railway Station.   There are several opportunities for short cuts or return to the start\, including one avoiding the climb up to Greenwell Edge. \nDate:  Tuesday 5th May 2026 \nStart time: 10.00am                            Estimated finish time:  13:30p.m. \nDistance c. 6.5 miles           Height gain: 150m \nLeader: David     Contact details: 07485780121 \n  \nStarting Point:  Wolsingham Railway Station Car Park – free car parking. \nOS Map: North Pennines OS Explorer OL31 NZ 076\,368. \nWalks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution. \nTerrain: Mainly path and meadow with a short section of road verge. \nToilets: Wolsingham town centre. \nEquipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks\, waterproofs\, small snack and drink. \nDogs: Dogs on a lead are permitted on this walk. \nAccompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome. \nDisclaimer: Everyone taking part in any of our group walks does so at their own risk.  The group works on the same basis as a group of friends who go out walking together.  Walk organisers accept no risk for anyone attending any walk and will not be held responsible for any accident\, injury or loss occurring on a walk or in connection with travel to and from a walk.  None of our leaders is qualified or has first aid training but a basic first aid kit is available.  Participants must read the walk description carefully and assess whether the terrain\, distance and height gain of the walk are within their own and their guests’ capabilities and whether their equipment is suitable. \n
