Important: In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week. This particular walk will be be revised if water levels in the little Eggleshope Beck make fording too difficult. Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk as we are often able to update the website to say if the walk is going ahead the evening before.
Walk Route:
From Waskerley Station car park we follow the old Waskerley/Burnhill railway line ESE then South before doubling back northwards, veering East on the Burnhill/Consett line until we reach the Whitehall car park. Here we join the Healeyfield Lane, walking West, then South until at the second sharp right turn we leave the road at Middles End, skirting Middles Farm until we reach Nanny Mayer’s incline, a moderate upward slope of just over 1km back to Waskerley Station.

Starting Point: We meet at Waskerley Station car park OS grid ref 051,453: Turn right at a sharp left bend on the Stanhope to Castleside Road to Waskerley Farm/Waskerley Station car park

Terrain: Mainly surfaced track and road.
Toilets: The nearest toilets are in Stanhope.
Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink.
Dogs: Dogs on a lead are permitted on this walk.
Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome.
