Walk 17th February 2026. ALLENSFORD COUNTRY PARK – SHOTLEY BRIDGE CIRCULAR WALK

An approx. 6.4 km circular walk.

Walk Leader:  Kevin & Trudy Hollins

Meeting point Allensford Country Park. DH8 9BA (077,502 grid ref). Park in car park on left of Pemberton Road just after the junction with the A68 at Allensford.

Toilets. At country park

Approx. 2.5 hours including stop for refreshments.

Height gain 160m

Leaving Allensford Country park we follow the river Derwent east through the park which brings us to part of the Consett Heritage Trail where we pass an old Pump House**. We leave the river path with an approx 800m climb up and then through woods and back down a quiet lane to cross the footpath over the river Derwent and follow the river footpath all the way back to the Car park.

** a short linear walk can be had by turning back at pump house approx 2km, 1 hour.

Important:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead.  Note we are often able to update the website the evening before.

Walks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution.
