Stanhope/Eastgate Circular
Important: In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week. Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead. Note we are often able to update the website the evening before.
Walk Route: Park in the Dales Centre car park in Stanhope and walk westwards along the pavement on the north side of the A689 to the Greenfoot Holiday Home Park. Instead of turning up the lane, carry on into the unpaved parking area and beyond through a series of fields and farms to Eastgate. Cross the A689 and walk 1/4 mile back towards Stanhope before turning right to cross the railway. Walk through a campsite between the railway and the River Wear back to Stanhope.

Height gain: Negligible.
The easy walk consists of footpaths, pasture and quiet roads.

Equipment for this walk: walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick.
Dogs: Dogs are allowed on this walk but must be on a lead. Please note there are a number of stiles that may present an issue for large dogs.
