Tunstall Reservoir and Sand Edge
Important: In the event of bad weather walks may be changed, cancelled or rescheduled for later in the same week so consult the www.weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk, before travelling.
Start: Meet at the car park on the right half-way along Tunstall Reservoir. The reservoir is approached on the minor road from Wolsingham School DL13 3DJ on the A689.
Walk: The walk climbs steepishly up to an old railway track heading towards Tow Law. The return is over Sand Edge with good views down on to the valley of the Waskerley Beck. A short section of the descent on a road is very steep. We finish through an ancient oak woodland.

Moderate walk 5.5 miles, 750 feet of ascent.

Walks cost £1 for contribution to local mountain rescue and website and hosting.
Toilets: There is a Portaloo at the reservoir but the public toilets near Peggotty’s Café on Angate Street, Wolsingham DL13 3AR may be a nicer option.
Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick, hat, scarf and gloves.
Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome on this walk.
Dogs: Dogs on a short lead are welcome on this walk.
