Stanhope to Eastgate via Bewdley Plain

Starting at the car park at the Dales Centre, Stanhope the route is a short uphill walk to the quarry. We then travel along the Stanhope Burn crossing the stream by bridge at Widley Field. From here the route takes us up to Mount Pleasant and then down to Eastgate returning along the River Wear path to Stanhope.

There are 3 places where people can shorten the route.

Start time: 10.00 am               Estimated finish: 13.30

Starting point: Car park Dales Centre, Stanhope.

Distance: 10.8 km (6.7 miles) approx.

Time: 3 hrs 15 mins.

Height gain 251 metres (790 feet).

The walk consists of gravel, woodland, pasture, moorland and narrow river bank paths.

Walks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution.

Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink.

Dogs: Dogs on a lead are permitted on this walk.

Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome.
