Stanhope to Hill End and back

Important:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk.  Note we are often able to update the website to say if the walk is going ahead the evening before.

Walk Route: Our walk leaves Stanhope heading to the football field and the river path to the back road from Stanhope to Frosterley and then to the track to Parsons Byre Farm.  Mainly following the Weardale Way, we head to Hill End.  From Hill End take the well defined fell road heading west towards  the derelict buildings from where we retrace our steps to Parsons Byers Farm and the car park at the visitor centre Stanhope.

Starting Point:  Dales Centre car park Stanhope.

Walks cost £1 to cover costs and mountain rescue contribution.

Terrain: Gentle tracks and paths through fields and some open moorland.

Toilets: The nearest toilets are in Stanhope.

Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink.  Walking poles or a stick will be especially helpful when fording the beck.

Dogs: Dogs on a lead are permitted on this walk.

Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome.
