Shipley and Howlea Bridge – Weardale Tuesday Walks -this walk is going ahead as planned

Starting point :  Car park at Bedburn Bridge just before Hamsterley Forest road. (Easting 410119 Northing 531574)

Route:  We walk along the bank of the Bedburn beck through some woodland and a static caravan site to Howlea Bridge. The route then climbs to high Shipley, on to West Shipley Farm and then descends to Low Burnlea Row, returning along the Bedburn Beck. The route has woodland paths, tarmac tracks, rough pasture and one small stream, which we have to ford. Marshy in places.

Starting time: 10 am    Approximate finishing time:  1.00pm

Ascent: 196 metres
