SCAWG – monitoring/maintenance – Rookhope

12 December

We’ll be walking a 2.5 km stretch of the proposed Way of Hope (from Rookhope to the road just south of Lintzgarth Plantation). Along the way we’ll check the condition of the path, sort out any small fixes, update or replace DCC footpath waymarkers, and test the draft route descriptions.

Once we reach the end of the section, we’ll turn back and walk it in reverse to confirm the route from the opposite direction. The whole morning session should take no more than 3 hours.

Optional Afternoon Session (weather dependent)
For anyone keen to continue, we’ll drive up to Cowhorse (between Lanehead and Killhope) to check route descriptions and repair or replant waymarkers and posts. This visit should take around 2 hours on site. NPNL will bring all materials and any specialist tools.

Both sessions will be supported by NPNL, giving SCAWG volunteers the chance to build skills and make useful local connections.

If you’re staying for the afternoon, please bring your own food and drink, and make sure you’re dressed for the weather.

We’ll meet in the Rookhope Village Hall car park ready to set off at 09:30.
