Walk Route: We park beside the B6278 Stanhope to Teesdale road, and climb over moorland tracks to the summit of Pawlaw Pike before descending to Hamsterly Forest, returning through the glacial overflow channel of Sharnberry Gill. (There an alternative return missing Hamsterley Frorst for those seeing a shorter walk.)

Starting Point: The B6278 about one kilometre south of the Weardale/Teeesdale watershed, which is also the western extremity of Sharnberry Gill. OS Ref: NY997307.

Walks cost £1 to cover mountain rescue contribution
Terrain: Moorland tracks and gravel roads.
Toilets: The nearest toilets are in the Dales Centre, Stanhope.
Equipment for this walk: walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick.
Dogs are permitted on this walk, but must be under strict control on the grouse moor.
Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome
