Harthope Burn , High Hotts , Ireshopeburn, West Blackdene returning to St John’s Chapel.
Leaving the centre of St John’s Chapel by the “Town Hall” the route goes through woodland past some waterfalls along the Harthope Burn. On leaving the woodland there are two short climbs, one with steps. We pass through rough pasture and fields from Rowantree Foot to Ireshopeburn, After a short walk along the main road we reach West Blackdene and follow the Wear River downstream to Newhouse Pastures, East Blackdene and Ponderlane Bridge returning to the cars in St John’s Chapel.

Ascent 214 metres
A gentle walk through woodland and pastures with a variety of stiles and a short section of marsh.
