Townfield bus to Edmundbyers(10.50) walk Edmundbyers to Townfield

Starting point, Townfield Village Notice Board/post box, The Cottages, Townfield DH8 9UW.

Time: 10.50. Bus leaves at 10.55 (£1.60 fare or bus pass)

(Alternative meeting point The Derwent Arms, Edmundbyers 11.05, if wanting to do a shorter linear walk)

As we leave the bus at Edmundbyers, we walk west passing the Derwent arms and along The Closes before joining The Way of Light trail, we follow the trail for approx 5 km, before joining a small section of the Lead Mining trail. We then follow the road down to Deborah Plantation crossing Bolt’s Burn for our final climb over fields back to Townfield,

Distance: approx 7 miles

Estimates finish: 2.30 pm

Toilets: we will pass a public toilet when we walk through The Closes at Edmundbyers

Parking in Townfield Village on road side or in front of Village Hall.

Moderate walk mainly on good ground following marked paths with a small section on the road.
