Cowshill and Puddingthorn Edge

Walk Route: From the Cowshill parking area the walk follows the Killhope Burn upstream to Lanehead then climbs steadily up to the currick known as “The Chair” on Puddingthorn Moor. The return down Burtree Fell gives fine views over the Burnhope Reservoir area.

Moderate walk 5.5 miles, 750 feet of ascent.

Starting Point: The Cowshill parking area starts a short way up the track which is on the opposite side of the bridge from the Cowshill Hotel, postcode DL13 1JQ

Walks cost £1 to cover costs.
Toilets: The nearest public toilets are in Wearhead.
Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick, sun hat and suntan lotion.
Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome on this walk.
Dogs: Dogs on a short lead are welcome on this walk.
