Coal Crow Hill -Weardale Tuesday walks

Crow Coal Hill trig point from Eastgate     

Important:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week so consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk. (We are often able to update the website to say if the walk is going ahead the evening before).

Walk Route:   We climb gently up to Bewdley Plain past many abandoned farmhouses and then onto open moorland at the Crow Coal trig point.  The final part of the return is quite steep.  A varied and scenic walk.

Moderate walk, 4 miles.  Height gain:  770 feet

Starting Point:   Eastgate Village Hall car park.  Coming from Stanhope at the entrance to Eastgate turn right into Church Lane which is 100 yards before the Cross Keys pub.  The village hall car park entrance is on the right after 150yards.        Nearest postcode:   DL13 2HU

Walks cost £1 to cover mountain rescue contribution

Terrain:  Footpaths, grassy tracks and rough pasture.

Toilets:   The nearest toilets are in the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope.

Equipment for this walk:  Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick.

Dogs:  Dogs are permitted on this walk.

Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome
