Weardale Tuesday Walks.

Blanchland/Slaley 30th December 2025

An approximately 6 miles, circular walk, through the forest and open moor from Winnows Hill and to the West.

Important:  In the event of bad weather walks may be cancelled, changed or rescheduled for later in the same week.  Please consult the weardale.uk website from 8am on the morning of the walk to confirm the walk is going ahead.  Note we are often able to update the website the evening before.

Meeting point: the public car park in the forest on the B6306 200m south of Neddy’s Well (Grid 977,552).  Approx 4.5Km NE of Blanchland on the B6306 heading towards Slaley just prior to leaving the Winnows Hill wood).

Walk commencing at 1000hrs.

Distance: approximately 6 miles

Duration: approximately 3.5 hours

Height gain: minimal.

Public toilets: Blanchland.

 

The walk heads west along the main path then zigzags off to the right, over the forest road, back to the south then east again back to the carpark. There is little or no gradient and it is probably a bit less than 6 miles.

The route is suitable for dogs on leashes.

There will be a snack break during the walk.
