Blackhill Edge from Westgate

Walk Route: The walk follows an attractive stretch of the River Wear downstream to Brotherlee then climbs steadily up to the trig point on Blackhill Edge, giving fine views on the descent to Westgate.

Strenuous walk 5.5 miles, 920 feet of ascent.

Starting Point: We meet at the parking area in Westgate, opposite the caravan park.

Walks cost £1 to cover costs.
Toilets: There are no public toilets in Westgate.
Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick, sun hat and suntan lotion.
Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome on this walk.
Dogs: Dogs on a short lead are welcome on this walk.
