Walk Route: This is a figure of eight walk. From Baybridge we loop via Penny Pie, Shildon and the amazing village of Blanchland back to Baybridge. We walk through Townfield and Hunstanworth and back down the fine country road back to the start. Some fine woodland is crossed en route.

Start time: 10.00am Estimated finish time: 1.00pm
Starting Point: The Baybridge Picnic Site, nearest postcode DH8 9UB. From the west end of Stanhope take the B6278 at the Grey Bull pub, signed towards Edmundbyers. Turn left down to Blanchland at the top of the hill, after about 3 miles. At the end of the long descent and 100 yards after the left turn towards Rookhope the picnic area is on the left OR if coming from Rookhope take the Allenheads road and 0.75 miles from Rookhope, turn right to Blanchland and pass through Townfield and Hunstanworth . About a mile after Hunstanworth turn left at the T junction and the picnic area is on the left after 100 yards.
Moderate walk 6.0 miles, 1000 feet of ascent.

Toilets: There are public toilets in Blanchlands,near the road bridge.

Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome on this walk.
