Chapel Fell Top and Noon Hill- Weardale Tuesday Walks -this walk is going ahead as planned

Meet at St Johns Chapel Auction Market Car Park and then take some cars up to Harthope Cross  .(Because of the height and ground conditions, good visibility will be needed for this walk so a substitute walk may have be arranged on the day starting from St John’s Chapel.)


Start Time: 10.00am     Estimated finishing time:1.30pm
Length 8 miles. A longer walk than normal but predominately downhill. A shorter option is available by only doing the loop-3.5miles- around Chapel Fell Top.

Route Details: Ascend from Harthope Cross across moss hags to Chapel Fell Top before returning via paths ,moorland ,tracks and road to Harthope Cross with spectacular views across  Teesdale including Cow Green Reservoir. Cross to Noon Hill again across boggy moss hags before beginning a long and steady descent down tracks and farmland back to St Johns with views across Upper Weardale.
Equipment for this walk: walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick.
Dogs are permitted on this walk, but must be under strict control as we will be crossing farmland . However not recommended for dogs because of nature of terrain ascending Chapel Fell Top.
Walks cost £1 to cover mountain rescue contribution etc
