This is probably the most popular picnic site in the Dale for families, offering a riverside location, space for games and lots of excitement climbing and running up the bumps, the grassed over spoil heaps of an old quarry. Both banks of of the Bollihope Burn offer excellent walks downstream.
From the Stanhope end of Frosterley turn right on the unclassifed road signed to Frosterley Station, past the Black Bull and and turn right for Hill End at the junction. As the road flattens at the valley bottom there is parking on the left, either side of the Bollihope Burn.
