This is a small picnic spot beside the River Wear next to a pleasant waterfall. There is no real space for games or running around with kids. When we visited there was a home made barbecue available for general use.
The picnic area is 800 yards upstream of the A689 road bridge over the River Wear at Daddry Shield. Climb over a crash barrier and follow the footpath sign down steps and over a footbridge. Go through a gate and then a kissing gate and the picnic spot is then 400 yards ahead.
