Weardale Tuesday Walkers – this walk is going ahead as planned.
Stanhope Dene and Ashes Quarry

Local residents and visitors to the dale are welcome on our walks
Walk Route: The walk follows the old railway track up wonderful Stanhope Dene, returning along Crawley Edge with fine views over Ashes Quarry. This is one of Weardale’s best walks.

Walks cost £1 to cover expenses.
Terrain: Good tracks, footpaths and roads. No stiles.
Toilets: There are public toilets at Durham Dales Centre.
Equipment for this walk: Walking boots and socks, waterproofs, small snack and drink, walking poles or stick.
Dogs: Dogs on a short lead are permitted on this walk.
Accompanied children under 16 and accompanied vulnerable adults are welcome
Hazards: The last part of the walk is around the Ashes Quarry which has a 100 foot drop. Please keep well away from the edge.
